In the World of Crawling Dead The Record of War of a Certain High School

Chapter 53 - Nice Catch

Sayo put her hands on the fence.

At that moment, a voice called out to Sayo.

“What are you doing?”

When Sayo turned around in the direction of the voice, she saw Seiji standing by the water tank on the rooftop.

Seiji walked lightly and came down from the water tank.

Sayo put herself on guard, and Seiji, seeing that, grinned while he drew near.

“Don’t get close.”

“Don’t want to.”

Sayo hurriedly climbed the fence.

Seeing that, Seiji started running.

Grasping Sayo’s foot, he dragged her to the ground.

And then, he pinned her down.

“Let me go!”

“It’ll be troublesome to clean up after you fall. Selfishness has a limit too. It’s a different matter if you die in a garbage bag though.”

“Why do you want to die? Say it.”

“Because Jun is dead.”

“Because Jun is dead! I will die!”

“Are you stupid?”

“What do you know! Definitely…!”

As she said that, unable to stand it any longer, tears overflowed from Sayo’s eyes.

“Tsk, how annoying. You’re crying like a child.”

Seiji’s hand holding Sayo loosened.

In that instant, Seiji was violently blown off from behind.

Sayo’s foot had kicked Seiji in his solar plexus hard.

And then, turning aside, she climbed the fence and jumped.

All that happened in only a few seconds.

Seiji held his chest as he stood up.

It was easy to imagine what would happen if you fell on the concrete from the rooftop.

Even if it end in instant death, there was no way of recovery in this school without any medical supplies.

Seiji climbed over the fence and looked down.

“...What did you do?”

“Let me go! Let me go!”

“Woah, don’t struggle!”

A weird scene spread out under Seiji’s eyes.

Sayo, who should have jumped down from the roof, was floating in midair.

No, looking closer, two hands were holding Sayo back.

“S-Seiji! Help!”

He heard a voice from below.

“I have no choice, huh.”

Saying that, Seiji walked down the floors.

Together with Tsubasa, Seiji brought Sayo inside and tied her with a rope that happened to be nearby.

“Uh, Seiji.”

“I feel like we’re doing something we’re not supposed to do.”

“Shut up.”

Seiji slapped Tsubasa’s head and looked in Sayo’s direction.

“Why? Why won’t you let me die? Whywhywhywhywhywhywhy…”

She muttered as if broken.

“Oh. She might have broken.”

“Well, she might have just been broken from the beginning. Then, Tsubasa, how did you save Sayo?”

“Well, I thought I’d air out the sheets. I held the blanket and came here, and then…”

“Say it quickly.”

“I heard your voice.”

“Ugh... it turns into that, right…”

Immediately following, a clenched fist cleanly hit Tsubasa’s face.

“After the fence became noisy, I looked up, and Senior Haiga…”

“I see. Well, I want to avoid a messy corpse so… First off, let’s leave her in the school infirmary.”

Saying that, Seiji extended his hand to Sayo.

“I have taken over now. It’s Saejima.”

“It’s been a while, huh.”

“Yes, long time no see.”

“By the way, do you listen to the radio?”

“No, we don’t.”

“I see. We’re currently going to a place called Evacuation Shelter on the radio.”

“What happened?”

“Well. Every place that was called out was destroyed. Therefore, if you guys plan on displaying yourselves as a shelter, I think it’s better to stop now.”

“Yes. Thank you for your warning. …I am sorry for not being able to offer you any information.”

“Well, it doesn’t matter. As one would expect, there’s no pressure in having an equivalent exchange with high schoolers after all.”

“We are no longer high schoolers though.”

“That’s true… I wonder if there’ll be a day you can go back to school again.”

“Well, at least it won’t be possible for now when we are at the age of being students.”

“True. Do you need any reinforcement or similar?”

“Then, one piece of advice: only zombies aren’t after you. If survivors find a peaceful place, they’ll rush into it, and there’s a possibility they’ll attack you. No matter how much you’re defended, a desperate person might throw a bomb or even do a suicide attack. There are people calling themselves yakuza as well. It would be dangerous if they had weapons.”

“That’s right… As I thought, keeping watch is important.”

“Right? If possible, build something like a watch tower, it’s good to monitor from a place high up. It would be the best if you weren’t found though.”

“Then, I’ll sever the connection. See you later.”

“Yes, likewise.”

The radio was severed.
